Volunteers work directly in the arena during youth sessions, observing both horse and child behavior. You’ll help redirect frustration, encourage problem-solving, and support youth as they develop confidence, emotional regulation, communication, and academic skills — all on the ground with horses.

Healthy relationships begin with one important question:
What can I learn about myself first?
Get Curious About Stable Relationships is a 6-week, ground-based equine-assisted learning program designed to help youth explore self-awareness, authenticity, and personal responsibility — the foundation of every healthy connection.
Get Curious About Friends & Boundaries is a three-day HorsePowered Life Skills program designed to help your child build stronger, healthier friendships.
When youth partner with horses, they receive immediate, honest feedback about their choices, communication, and emotional awareness. They learn that trust is built through responsibility and safety — not just good intentions.
Through interactive, ground-based activities in the arena, your child will partner with a horse to practice setting boundaries, handling distractions, working as a team, and becoming the kind of friend, he/she wants to have and to be.
Travel back in time to April 18, 1775.
In this immersive, ground-based equine escape experience, youth step into history and follow the path of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride. Using the book Paul Revere’s Ride, (written by Cynthia Klingel & Robert B. Noyed) your child will solve literacy and math-based puzzles, decode clues, and work together to carry the warning across Boston Harbor and through Lexington.
This fully interactive experience blends history, academics, and equine-assisted learning in a way that makes the past come alive.

An Equine Book Club Experience
Join us for a three-day equine-assisted book club inspired by JuneBug Finds Her Forever Home, written by Brenda L. Johnson, Bertrand, Nebraska. As youth read JuneBug’s journey, they’ll explore themes of belonging, trust, and patience.
The book club blends reading comprehension, vocabulary exploration, and discussion with hands-on, ground-based activities partnering with horses. Your child will build reading skills and essential life skills: confidence, empathy, and responsibility.
And on the final day… JuneBug herself will make a special guest appearance at LyonHeart!
Each child will take home an autographed copy of JuneBug Finds Her Forever Home on the final day.
Get Curious About Going Back-to-School is program designed to help youth ages 7–10 start the school year feeling capable and confident.
Each day focuses on a different skill area:
